Welcome to the Extended Hours Program!

The Extended Hours Program or EHP at the Congressional Schools of VA offers fun and educational childcare for students before school and after dismissal.  Our qualified staff of teachers and trained counselors supervise students and engage them in a variety of activities.  After school, students have the opportunity to complete homework in study hall (supervised by a CSOV teacher and/or EHP counselor), eat snack, and choose from a variety of activities each day.  Activities range from structured, counselor-led activities to unstructured, free choice options (playground, games, projects, puzzles, books, etc.)

The Extended Hours Program operates daily from 7:00 a.m. - 7:50 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. The program does not remain open after 6:00 p.m.  EHP is available to students who are enrolled in the program and to students who use the schools' transportation services. Students not enrolled in these services may drop in when needed; however, prior notification is necessary and a drop in fee will be assessed.  Extended Hours personnel are hired based on enrollment to meet established ratios, so it is not possible to accommodate drop-ins without prior approval from the EHP Supervisor.

In addition to the Extended Hours Program, Afterschool Classes are also available.  Students may enroll in different classes each trimester. Examples of Afterschool classes include dance, chess, cooking, robotics, art, drama, and sports.  A fee per class is required for enrollment; a discounted rate is available for students enrolled in EHP.  Afterschool Activities are run by CSOV teachers and staff as well as outside vendors.
